Importing Adobe Illustrator files into memoQ
To work on Adobe Illustrator (.ai, .eps), DWG (AutoCAD), or CAD (CAD software) files in memoQ, you need to export them to SVG format.
If you have Adobe Illustrator:
Change the text in your file from single-line to full paragraph text boxes. This ensures correct segmentation.
To save your file: In the File menu, click Save as. Browse to the folder where you want to save the file.
Under the file list, in the Save as type dropdown, choose SVG.
Click Save.
The SVG Options window opens. At the bottom, click the More Options button.
Use the settings below to prevent too many tags and ensure correct segmentation. To save the file, click OK.
Check the folder in which you saved your files. Illustrator saves the related images next to your .svg file.
Import the .svg file into memoQ.
After translation, export the file to the same folder so the images can be linked correctly.
If you do not have Adobe Illustrator, you can:
Download and install Inkscape, the free, open-source editor that supports .ai files and allows to save them as .svg.
