7. Managing and backing up memoQ data on the terminal server
In multi-user mode, memoQ stores resources in the user profile folders of each user who uses memoQ on the virtualization server. This means that you need to include the following folders in the backup sets that you set up for the terminal server:
%PROGRAMDATA%\MemoQ
%APPDATA%\MemoQfor each memoQ user
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My MemoQ Projects for each memoQ user
The above list contains the default folder locations only. memoQ allows users to change the default folder locations. Users can also create resources (translation memories, term bases, LiveDocs corpora) or projects in different folders.
When you set up the virtualization server, it is highly recommended that you establish and communicate a clear backup policy: plan the folders where users can create new files, and list all folders that you plan to back up regularly. Enforce the folder policies: do not allow users to create new files in folders that you are not backing up. Make sure you let the users know what folders are being backed up.
On the other hand, if your organization performs coordinated translation activity, it is not recommended to allow users to create resources for themselves (other than temporary working copies). Instead, set up a memoQ TMS, and have all memoQ users work with resources on the memoQ TMS. A memoQ TMS ensures that all authoritative resources are managed and backed up centrally.
Note: Remember that you cannot install a memoQ TMS on a terminal server where memoQ is installed in multi-user mode. However, you can also set up a virtual server to host memoQ TMS.
