CAL and ELM licensing
Description:
memoQ offers CAL (Concurrent Access Licensing) and ELM (Enterprise License Management) licenses.
CAL
- You need to use CAL when you run a Terminal Server.
- You need a permanent Internet connection to use CAL.
- A CAL license is automatically returned when you close memoQ desktop application.
- CAL licenses can be bound to computers and users/groups.
- CAL licenses can also be project based. CAL can be returned and granted automatically: check out your online project, open it: CAL license granted. Close the checked out copy of your online project: CAL license automatically returned.
- CAL is used for all memoQ servers hosted in the cloud, hosted by memoQ.
ELM
- You can use ELM licenses without an Internet connection.
- ELM licenses are not bound to computers, but to a specific user.
- ELMs can be granted to users or groups directly.
- ELMs can be granted to users through online projects.
- ELM licenses are used together with a memoQ server, no standalone ELM server.
- ELM licenses are not automatically returned when a user closes a project or memoQ. ELMs are returned when the expiry date is reached or the license is revoked.
In common
- Both license modes have in common that they can be expanded: You can add licenses to your license pool.
- Both need a credential update (an authorization from the memoQ central activation server).
- You can have a signed URL for accessing memoQ from outside your organization, and you can set a signed URL for internal access (an Intranet address).
