memoQ server service won't start (after an upgrade)
Posted by Péter Botta on 12 December 2012 09:15 AM

Context: you just upgraded your memoQ server to a newer major version, and now the memoQ server service won't start.

Fix: here is an extract from the memoQ server upgrade guide (available from http://kilgray.com/resource-center/user-guides):

On some occasions, if memoQ server is upgraded to version 6.2 on a 64-bit system, the memoQ server will not start, and the complaint is that one of its components, MemoQServices.dll, has a bad image format. This component is one of the remains of an earlier Web Services API installation. To make the memoQ server service work, you need to remove this file from C:\Program Files(x86)\Kilgray\MemoQServer40.

If you also need the Web Services API, you need to download and install it again. At the time of writing, the download link is http://kilgray.com/memoq/memoQWSSetup.6.2.3.exe. The last number is always the build number of the latest memoQ version. To check the build number, visit http://kilgray.com/downloads. Please note that you need a separate license for the Web Services API – if you do not have a valid license for it, your memoQ server will not be accessible through the API
