Title: Importing a Wordfast TXT translation memory into memoQ

Context: You have a TXT translation memory generated by Wordfast that you would like to import into memoQ.

How to:

First, you need to convert the Wordfast TXT translation memory into TMX. While TXT is a format also supported by memoQ, Wordfast's translation memory can contain characters that prevent memoQ from successful import. What's more, with memoQ's TXT import metadata would not be imported.

To perform the conversion, you need to download and install the free tool Okapi Olifant. The tool is available from here:

Download Olifant-R00022.zip

Open the TXT translation memory in Olifant, and save the file as TMX.

Now you have a TMX and you need to import it into memoQ. Go to Project home / Translation Memories, create a new translation memory using Create/add new local, then select the translation memory and click Import from TMX/CSV
